2019 Back to School Drive

The 2019 Back to School Drive was a great evening. The drive was held on Tuesday, August, 21, from 6PM to 8PM by the housing authority gazebo and basketball court area. Children from the Willacy County Housing Authority were provided with a backpack full of school supplies. There was food, drinks, music, and a bouncy house for some fun entertainment. CASA Board President, Albert Cavazos, Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition representatives, Rosaliee Tristan and Sarah Garcia, provided over 40 backpacks, school supplies, and a tobacco prevention presentation. City of Lyford mayor, Wally Solis, along with his wife, Janie Solis, provided and distributed plenty of school supplies for the drive. Mario Jimenez, a housing authority resident also chipped in with supplies and barbeque pit to help make the event a success. Special thanks to all those that donated and volunteered their time to make this a special day for the kids of Willacy County Housing Authority.
