National Diabetes Prevention Program is a scientifically proven, curriculum-based year-long program where participants meet once a week for the first six months and then, monthly the last six months. The two requirements include to lose 5 – 7 % of the participant’s body weight in the first six months and to perform 150 minutes (2 ½ hrs.) of physical activity per week. At the beginning of each class, we weigh the participants and they turn in a weekly food log and a weekly fitness log as well. We work in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
